To reduce the risk from healthcare-associated infections, hospital water systems must be managed in line with healthcare guidelines, and this extends to every aspect of the system, including showers and their fittings.
Rada’s new Healthcare Shower Fittings range has been designed with these guidelines in mind, and in particular for compliance with HTM 04-01 and HSG 274 Part 2. The ‘stylish and compliant’ range, comprising a choice of kits for surface-mounted or built-in valves, and offering different length slide bar and hose options, is accompanied by a fixed shower head.
Rada says a number of innovative features make this range especially suited for the fight against HCAIs. The single mode spray plate – ‘a prerequisite in healthcare’ – is easily detachable (with key provided), and features a silicone nozzle mat (also easily detachable) to help prevent the build-up of limescale and potential bacteria. These features, in particular, help to facilitate the quarterly cleaning and descaling regime recommended in HTM 04-01.
The robust clamp bracket, designed for smooth, one-handed operation by pulling or pushing the lever, is an important design feature for healthcare environments, in which some patients may not have the full use of both hands. The hose itself has a smooth surface finish, ‘ideal to help reduce the risk of microbial growth’.
Although healthcare guidelines recommend quarterly cleaning and descaling – which the new range has been designed to facilitate – Rada now offers an additional range of independent accessories for those hospitals wishing to replace their handsets and hoses.
