BeaconMedæs and Atlas Copco have combined their expertise to develop a ‘state-of-the-art upgrade kit’ for medical plant systems, comprising the ES central plant controller, and the Elektronikon Mk 5 local compressor/pump controller.
The ES controller ‘ensures economic operation’ of the air purifier, as well as control of the compressors (air) or pumps (vacuum), and can be connected to a hospital’s LAN computer network, enabling live plant status monitoring from any PC. The ES software, and an additional PDP sensor, are said to enable energy savings of up to 90% on purge air losses, with a typical payback of around two years (‘depending on application, compressor/dryer size, and load capacity’). Users can also add an additional VSD compressor to their system ‘for increased capacity, and additional energy-saving benefits’.
