Call status easily identified

Medicare’s HTM series wireless Nurse Call system has been manufactured to be ‘very easy to use’, and to ‘withstand the rigours of the care home market’.

The company said: “We are aware that, presently, there are no specific standards for nurse call systems used in private care facilities. However, the NHS uses HTM Bedhead service standards for call systems in hospitals and clinics, so we have adopted these into the system. Visual alerts on the display panels are thus colour matched to the HTM requirements for standard calls (orange), assistance calls (yellow), emergency calls (red), staff presence (green), and call accept (grey). ‘Standard’, ‘assistance’, and ‘emergency’ calls each also have their own tone.” Display panels have a touchscreen that allows staff to accept calls, and informs all others that a call is being dealt with, while a ‘mute’ facility reduces sound intrusion. Both the callaccept and mute facility are ‘temporary’; if the original call is not reset within 90 seconds, the panels reinstate both call and sound.
