As one of the UK’s largest ironmongery and doorset suppliers, Laidlaw regularly tenders for total supply contracts. In early 2011 it was awarded lead supplier status for ironmongery and doorsets for several NHS Tayside hospital projects in Scotland.
The bill of works included 400 made-to-order, high specification, secure vision panels incorporating anti-ligature fixings and handles, along with impact-resistant glass. Laidlaw turned to Vistamatic to fulfil the order and ‘guarantee quality, delivery, and price’. “We have built a really good working relationship with Vistamatic – critical on this project, since secure vision panels, in the main, are a bespoke product, so we had to work closely with the manufacturer to meet customer requirements,” explained Nigel Bligh, market development director at Laidlaw. “As our reputation is at stake if products are delivered faulty, or show signs of undue duress and fatigue once installed, we only recommend top quality products – backed by a professional service. Vistamatic products have always been excellent; are increasingly competitive on price, and the company is always responsive and efficient. Vistamatic has also continuously improved and evolved its products, particularly in terms of innovation, fire testing, and safety.” The panels, produced at Vistamatic’s Essex factory, were delivered to Laidlaw in batches ready for installation alongside other elements, enabling the tight schedule to be maintained.
