With its impressive energy-efficient functionality, Zip’s Hydroboil Plus is, the company says, ‘becoming the wall-mounted instant boiling water system of choice in the workplace, particularly for locations such as hospitals that need to provide drinks for busy staff on demand, and are also looking to save energy and cost’.
Zip Heaters claims to be the marketleader in instant boiling and chilled filtered water systems, having supplied the healthcare sector for many years. The Hydroboil Plus uses the innovative ‘Steam-Heat-Boost’ system, which recycles steam from the stored boiling water, thus providing an energy-efficient way to pre-heat incoming cold water. Another energy-saving feature is PowerPulse technology, which constantly monitors and adjusts to achieve the selected temperature. The system also uses an integrated light detector to monitor local lighting levels; when local lighting is turned off, the unit is automatically placed in ‘sleep mode’. This feature allows the temperature of stored boiling water to gradually reduce to 65°C, at which it is maintained, preventing the water constantly being heated when it is not needed, and in turn ‘saving substantial amounts of energy and money’. Additionally, if the unit is put into single ‘inactivity’ sleep mode, and has not been used for two hours, it will enter ‘power down’ status. In recent tests undertaken by Aston University, this combination of features saw Hydroboil Plus use ‘up to 50% less energy than other instant boiling water systems’. Hydroboil Plus is available in 3 to 40 litre capacities, and offers busy departments boiling water facilities, ‘on tap’, ‘24-hoursa- day, 7-days-a-week’. To try out the system, visit stand D20 at the Healthcare Estates 2012 exhibition.
