A new £5 million integrated health centre in Burnley, construction of which was inspired by HRH Prince Charles during discussions between Lancashire County Council representatives and the Prince at Clarence House in 2007, features C-TEC life safety equipment.
The main foyer of The Fold features a C-TEC SigTEL disabled refuge controller, connected to four ‘hands-free’ outstations in the clearly marked refuge areas around the three-storey building. In an emergency, the system enables two-way communication between rescue teams and disabled people waiting in the refuge areas. Ashley Holt of Amsec UK, which completed the project, said: “Demand for disabled refuge systems is at an all-time high, as the Building Regulations say they should be installed in all new buildings of over one storey. We specify C-TEC’s refuge equipment because it is cost-effective, easy-to-install, and very user-friendly.” C-TEC’s ‘powerful’ addressable call system, Quantec, facilitates communication throughout the centre, which encompasses mental health, dental, and family support clinics. Each consultation room incorporates a call point, while every disabled persons’ washroom is similarly equipped.
