Nonwoven fabrics assist contamination risk reduction

Now available from DuPont de Nemours is Sontara MicroPure – a range of clean nonwoven fabrics that help reduce the risk of contamination in cleanrooms.

The fabrics, manufactured without binders or additives, help reduce the risk of exposing cleanrooms to extractable matter or metallic ions. The nonwoven fabrics are produced using a special process developed by the company.

During this hydroentangling process, needle-like water jets form a strong fabric which at the same time is literally “washed”, reducing contaminants such as particles. Very sophisticated automated equipment then cuts the fabric, with minimal handling and contamination.

Sontara MicroPure cleaning fabrics adhere to strict quality standards from the nonwoven production to the Tyvek material used for packaging. The special packaging design protects the wipes, keeps them clean and obviates the need to cut the packaging inside the cleanroom.

Manufactured at strictly-controlled sites, the fabrics are tested in modern laboratories to ensure a consistent, reliable product.
