The IFHE-EU Executive Committee was due to meet in Bern in Switzerland last month to discuss plans, and the programme for, the 2013 (5th) IFHE Europe European Conference for Hospital Engineering, writes David Whiteley, the IFHE’s European Council representative.
As reported in October’s HEJ, the host organisation for the event, Ingenieur Hospital Schweiz, has reiterated its call for abstracts for potential papers for the conference, which will take place at Bern’s Kursaal Culture & Congress-Center from 10-12 April, 2013. Potential speakers are asked to submit a one (A4) page abstract in English as a Microsoft ‘Word’ file, together with their name, title, position held, and address, as soon as possible, by email, to: tomas.bucher@crr-suva.ch, with a copy to ihs-gs@ihs.ch. The final text of papers needs to be submitted by 1 February, 2013. For more information, visit: www.eche2013.ch or T: +451 61 733 01 28. “In other news – there is now an active IFHE-EU Linkedin Group, with colleagues posing questions and requests; topics include Sustainability/Energy Standards and Regulations across the various member countries, and a library of the ‘Top Three’ hospital projects (in each country) completed in the last five years to visit, where innovation, or ‘something different’, have been delivered. For the UK, I put forward London’s UCLH and the Evelina Children’s Hospital, and the new Tunbridge Wells Hospital in Kent.” These LinkedIn pages, he explains, also include a call for papers and presentations for the 53rd Ingénieurs Hospitaliers de France (IFH-Fr.) 2013 conference, set to be held in Paris from 19-21 June next year.
