The IFHE’s 23rd Annual Congress will take place from 12-16 October 2014 in Buenos Aires at the UCA University, Puerto Madero.
Themed ‘Healthcare Facilities in Times of Radical Changes’, planned topical content will cover three overarching areas – ‘Sustainability’, ‘Humanisation’, and ‘New scenarios’. Among specific subjects on which the event’s organisers, AAIDAH (the Argentinean Association of Architecture and Hospital Engineering), will call for papers later this year/early next will be:
• The environmental impact of plant and equipment used in healthcare facilities.
• Optimisation of economic resources in a healthcare estates context.
• Strategic planning.
• ‘Green hospitals’, and energy saving in the healthcare estate.
• ‘Bioclimatic architecture’.
• Patient-centred care, and creating the optimal patient environment.
• Solutions for elderly and disabled patients.
• Ergonomic equipment design.
• Implications of an ageing population and the rise in chronic and ‘lifestyleinduced’ diseases.
• ‘Hospitals of the future’.
• The roles of interdisciplinary teams, and of architectural, engineering, management, and maintenance personnel, within them.
• Changes in ‘traditional’ working methods, including use of LEAN, and BIM (building information modelling).
• Proposals from engineering and computer science, management control, process simulation, and facilities management.
