DDC Dolphin has launched two new macerators, the Pulpmatic Ultima and Uno, which it says ‘set new standards in the maceration of biodegradable pulp product bedpans, bottles, vomit bowls, and other similar articles’, thanks to a ‘unique’, patented, hands-free operation, which eliminates potential patient-to-patient cross-contamination.
Hospitals and other healthcare facilities are being offered a free threemonth trial. The Pulpmatic Uno is a small pulp macerator for single items ‘ideal’ for isolation and single-bed wards, and low usage areas, while the Pulpmatic Ultima is a larger unit for multiple items. DDC Dolphin says the Pulpmatic range features ‘the first and only’ macerators to offer totally hands-free operation via a foot-sensor to open the machines, and an optical sensor to close and start them. Both the Pulpmatic Uno and the Pulpmatic Ultima feature ‘dual antimicrobial action’, with silver nanotechnology used in their lid construction, and automatic disinfection of the internal maceration chambers. The macerators, which incorporate patented technology, are designed ‘to help break the chain of infection’, but also use ‘unique blade technology ‘for quieter, quicker, more efficient maceration’, and reduced water and electricity consumption.
