Ultrasound developments highlighted

Siemens Medical Solutions works continuously on future technologies for ultrasound imaging and these innovations add to the continuous effort to simplify system operation, improve workflow and expand the application range for ultrasound technology.

Siemens’ newest innovations were highlighted at the recent European Congress of Radiology in Vienna and included Cadence CPS technology, the latest generation of transducers, and the Encompass II release for the Sequoia ultrasound platform.

Cadence CPS technology provides excellent contrast detection and good specificity to ultrasound molecular medicine. Studies show the technology’s considerable potential in the evaluation of inflammation angiogenesis and thrombosis. The upcoming Encompass III release on the Acuson Sequoia will make CPS available for endocavitary use. The newest generation of transducers surpasses predecessors in ergonomics and application. It is expected that silicon ultrasound technology will provide for efficient 4D imaging in a broad range of applications, which will provide clinicians with even greater detailed visualisation during conventional and volumetric 4D ultrasound imaging than previously possible.

The Encompass II release for the Sequoia ultrasound platform is characterised by High Resolution Colour Flow, an innovation that greatly improves spatial resolution and sensitivity through the use of chirp-coded excitation applied to colour Doppler and will specifically benefit the following applications: abdomen and obstetrics examinations, kidney examinations as well as examinations of tumours and the breast, thyroid gland and testicles.
