Striving for excellence

In developing new primary care facilities, a specialised partnership approach is essential, the One Medical organisation finds.

The flagship building will enable the offering of a range of services previously provided from the limited facilities at the existing clinic, including podiatry, community dental services, speech and language therapy, family planning and minor surgery.

In consultation with the doctors at Dr Sutherland and Partners, One Medical worked with Leeds-based architect SMC Gower to design a building which will be sympathetic to its environment and which will maximise the availability of natural ventilation and natural light to enhance the patient experience while minimising running costs.

Rachel Beverley-Stevenson, One Medical chief executive, said: “As primary care Trusts respond to the modernisation demanded by the recent White Paper “Our health, our care, our say”, we are finding that our client-focused approach to working with GPs and PCTs to develop buildings with their input enables us to develop centres that satisfy their needs and ultimately those of their patients.”
