P4 says it has become the UK’s first independent self-testing lighting manufacturer dedicated exclusively to emergency lighting to gain certification under the BAFE SP203-4 scheme, launched in 2011 by BAFE (British Approvals for Fire Equipment) to provide independent third-party confirmation of supplier competence to provide design, commissioning, and maintenance of such systems.
To satisfy BAFE’s requirements, Fakenham-based P4 underwent a detailed and thorough assessment of the effectiveness of its quality management system and its technical staff’s competence. At a special ceremony at its headquarters in Norfolk, attended by Keith Simpson, MP for Broadland, who congratulated the firm on the achievement, and guests from the lighting and emergency services sectors, Peter Warner, founder and CEO, said: “Compliance and total peace of mind for our loyal customer base have always been the bedrock of our business. I must congratulate our technical director, Alan Daniels (pictured front left), and his team, for all the hard work and application that has gone into this process, and in making this another important key milestone for the company.”
