Pointing out that healthcareassociated infections (HCAIs) resulting from medical care or treatment in hospitals, nursing homes, or even patients’ own homes, are estimated to cost the NHS approximately £1 billion, Biomaster will exhibit its ‘antimicrobial additive technology for hygiene-critical environments’.
The company added: “In March 2012, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) estimated that 300,000 patients a year in England alone acquired an HCAI as a result of care within the NHS.” Biomaster is a range of silver-based antimicrobial technologies, built in during manufacture, that ‘prevent the growth of bacteria for its lifetime’. Using Biomaster-protected products in healthcare settings reportedly provides ‘round-the-clock protection’ against build-up of harmful bacteria, such as MRSA, E. coli, and Legionella. The technology is used globally in products ranging from beds, cubicle curtains, wall and ceiling paints, to floors and door handles.
