A team of cleaning and maintenance operatives from FM and cleaning specialist, In Depth Managed Services, is keeping Crewe’s Eagle Bridge Health and Wellbeing Centre ‘spotless and in full working order’, adapting the frequency, method, and monitoring, of cleaning, based on the risk to patient safety posed by potential infections.
The £10 m healthcare facility, developed in line with Government policy for largescale, modern, primary care centres, saw three small town centre practices relocated into it to accommodate the 36,000 patients of 22 GPs. It also created the opportunity to improve patient care and broaden services for a further 400,000 local residents, to include dentistry, physiotherapy, ultrasound and X-ray, speech therapy, and podiatry, which were previously only available in the local hospital. Central and Eastern Cheshire Primary Care Trust awarded In Depth Managed Services, – which recently launched a dedicated healthcare cleaning division (HEJ – September 2013) – the contract to deliver a range of cleaning and infection prevention services. The centre, named after four cast iron eagles which adorn a local railway bridge, is managed by 150 staff, and is described as ‘an essential component to the town’s regeneration strategy’. In Depth says it works ‘in partnership’ with Eagle Bridge to ‘train and upskill’ both workforces, ‘guaranteeing that excellent standards of hygiene are maintained’.
