70th Anniversary to be marked at the House of Lords

On November 12 this year IHEEM will be formally celebrating the Institute’s 70th Anniversary with two high profile events – a technical symposium at the Institution of Civil Engineers in London, and a lunch at the House of Lords. IHEEM President, Greg Markham, will chair the symposium, ‘Healthcare Estates 2020 – challenges and solutions’.

The guest speakers will include Paul Westbury, CEO of Buro Happold; Trevor Payne, director of Estates and Facilities, Barts Health; Deborah Pullen, a director of BRE responsible for the organisation’s ‘Future Cities’ initiative, and Chris Barrass of British Gas. The symposium will be followed by a lunch at the House of Lords, at which the parliamentary sponsor will be Lord O’Neill of Clackmannan. The guest speaker will be Patricia Hewitt MP – chair of the UK India Business Council. IHEEM CEO, Julian Amey, said: “The events will be an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of all those Members and Affiliates who have done so much over the years to improve the effectiveness of healthcare estates, and thereby improve patient care. We will also look to the future, to see how technology and better use of resources can address critical issues such as the ageing population, and rising demand for healthcare provision.”
