The IHEEM Northern Ireland Branch recently held its Conference and Exhibition at the Marine Court Hotel, Bangor – and the event was judged by participants to be a great success and extremely valuable.
The event was opened by John Cole, chief executive of Health Estates Northern Ireland; and speakers included Sue Osborne, joint chief executive of the National Patient Safety Agency; Darryn Kerr who has recently moved from being acting chief engineer at the Department of Health to director of facilities at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust; David Surplas, managing director of B9 Energy; and Dr Gillian Rankin, director of service development, South & East Belfast HSS Trust.
The conference dinner proved to be an excellent opportunity to continue networking and building working communications. A raffle for Cancer Research raised £800 with winners receiving prizes donated by exhibitors. An auction then took place hosted by Lucas Vogan of Geberit, which had donated an adult’s mountain bike for the occasion.
After some feverish bidding, the cycle was secured by new member Jack Mayes, a partner with Beattie Flanigan Consulting Engineers.
The auction was followed by entertainment provided by a comedian who mimicked the voices of famous politicians of Northern Ireland and beyond.
