Sensazone, from ‘water management experts’, Cistermiser, is a system designed ‘as a simple yet effective way of controlling the water supply and lowering energy usage, while maintaining safe, hygienic washroom environments’.
Visitors to the washroom are detected by infrared sensors, which then automatically switch on the lights and ventilation, as well as the water supply. An ambient light sensor feature turns on the lights only when natural light levels are too low, again to lower energy usage. Cistermiser says: “For large healthcare facilities with 2-3 washrooms on each floor (‘gents’, ‘ladies’, and disabled), such systems’ ability to control individual washrooms across different floors – simply switching the facilities on and off remotely – can be a major selling point.”
