David Bailey Furniture Systems’ recent installation of furniture valued at £1.25 million in 6,500 rooms at Southmead Hospital’s new Brunel building in Bristol is the largest undertaken during MD, Trevor Gillman’s 24 years with the firm to date.
Selected by Carillion as its ‘furniture partner’, the furniture specialist also sourced fixtures, fittings, and equipment, valued at £400,000. Trevor Gillman said: “From the installation’s start we knew this would be our most challenging project yet. This project was the first where we had been asked to procure such a large variety of additional fittings and equipment, including exercise bars, mobile gym mats, grab rails, washroom dispensers, hooks, noticeboards, seats, workbenches, and even works of art. The immense main hospital building has a floor space of 115,000 m2 across six storeys, so, at the peak, we had 12 fitters on site.”
