Hygienic touchscreen operating theatre control panels from Bender UK are said to offer ‘the ultimate flexibility in terms of features and functionality’ for new and refurbishment installations within healthcare.
Bender says it ‘pioneered the contemporary membrane approach’ in the UK over 15 years ago, having introduced the technology to the UK from Germany. It explains: “Since that time our membrane design has become the standard for surgical environments, delivering maximum sterility, design flexibility, and product longevity.”
Bender’s theatre panels have been further developed to include wall-mounted touchscreen controls with a wide range of options, incorporating information and DICOM-compliant PACS screen displays, and offering easy control of third party elements including medical gas alarms, surgical lights, laser controls, operating tables, and laminar flow canopies
Bender says it ‘continually seeks to innovate, working in partnership with technology developers and healthcare professionals’, to introduce features such as its ‘unique’ anti-microbial silver nitrate coating, which enables safe and reliable control ‘even when staff are wearing surgical gloves’.
Each Bender theatre control panel is designed to specific user requirements, and manufactured to order. The integrated panels seamlessly incorporate functions specific to certain medical specialisms, services controls, IT screens, bespoke interlocks, UPS and IPS alarms, networked clock facility, and PACS screens that meet the DICOM standard. Functionality even extends to incorporating Bluetooth connections for music feeds into the operating theatre.
Bender UK’s touchscreen solution is available with a range of screen sizes, but clients typically choose either 15 or 22 inch displays.
The company adds: “The outstanding infection control offered by wipe clean, touchscreen panels is now well established, and they can more easily enable future upgrades in equipment and services. The panels’ compact size also means they are easier to accommodate in operating rooms where space is often limited, and Bender’s ability to integrate a range of controls and information viewing options provides an ergonomic single point of reference from which staff can control the theatre environment.”
Bender control panels now benefit from a new more transparent foil, which gives a much sharper finish. Hundreds of different colour foils are available to coordinate within colour schemes, and they can also incorporate a third party logo.
Bender UK offers a free consultation and design service, and provides full installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance, to support the panels throughout their working lives.
