The Engineering and Technology Board has appointed Stephen Timms OBE MBA MSc CEng MIMechE MIMarEST to the post of operations director.
A widely experienced chartered engineer and director of operations, Stephen Timms joins the ETB from the Royal Navy where he was director of Royal Naval Reserve and RN Youth Organisations. His command position made him accountable for RNR personnel recruitment, retention, training and development, career management and mobilisation into the RN in support of current operations worldwide, and for giving strategic direction to the organisation during a period of unprecedented change for UK Reserve Forces. He led a complement of 2,900 volunteer officers and ratings, with responsibility for the upkeep of an extensive estate.
He has a BSc in mechanical engineering and an MSc in marine engineering followed by a post-praduate diploma in nuclear reactor technology. He is a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST).
