PEL Services has been awarded the fire alarm installation contract for the Lister Hospital, a 620-bed general hospital in Stevenage. Over the past four years, £150 m has been invested in new wards, theatres, and maternity facilities, along with a much expanded emergency department, at the hospital.
As part of this investment and the Trust’s ongoing maintenance programme, the fire detection system is being upgraded by PEL Services throughout the Emergency Assessment Unit, and a new system is being installed into the new theatres and Endoscopy Unit.
The system is substantial in size, and comprises two sets of four loop panels, with over 200 multi-smoke detector heads and 53 call points. PEL is also fitting 98 interfaces designed to shut down plant release controlled doors, control valves, and other services.
