The NVTG, the Dutch ‘Association for technical facility healthcare professionals’ has issued a call for entries to its international NVTG Building Award 2016.
To be presented at the IFHE Congress in the Hague in April 2016, the Award ‘focuses’ on healthcare-related buildings ‘that offer a healing environment for all users, taking into account local circumstances’. It has been presented five times since 1997; all the previous winners were facilities for Dutch healthcare institutions. The NVTG says, however, that ‘the 2016 award is to have an international character’. It adds: “We invite all parties that have recently realised, or been involved in, a building project in healthcare, to compete for the International NVTG Building Award 2016.”
Only projects completed in or after 2011 will be considered. Both new-build and renovation/remodelling projects are eligible.
The NVTG adds: “To the NVTG, a healing environment is one that advances the physical, mental, and social well-being of all users wherever possible. This means considerable attention being paid to elements including accessibility, light, air, acoustics, hygiene, and climate, with both sufficient privacy and the opportunity for patients to interact socially.”
Entries must be received by November 2015. To enter (which requires pre-registering), visit the IFHE 2016 Congress website: www.ifhe2016.info
