Handrail meets essential criteria

For 25 years SPM International has been providing a range of protection solutions that are perfectly adapted to meet the requirements of staff, patients, designers and builders. Being expert in its field, it knows exactly what clients require in terms of protection, hygiene and comfort.

Since the introduction of Part 3 of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) in October 2004, everybody involved in the design process from architects and capital projects teams to maintenance departments has seeked guidance as to how suppliers of wall protection and handrails can help them provide compliancy. This is even more important today. From December 2006, the new Disability Discrimination Act 2005 has placed a duty on all public organisations to promote disability equality in all aspects of work, including adjustments to their buildings – meaning that doing a risk assessment will not be sufficient.

With all these requirements in mind, as well as ergonomics, hygiene, ease and speed of installation, SPM International has introduced a handrail that specifically complies with Building Regulations Approved Document-M (as amended 2005) and BS 8300:2001 (as amended 2004).
