Amid increasing reports that waste fires now account for a growing proportion of public fires. Taylor, a manufacturer of four-wheeled galvanised steel bins, has developed a ‘fire-proof’ lid.
The FRLID incorporates ‘a specialist high-grade polymer with specific characteristics to withstand fires’. The company said: “While standard plastic lids typically melt, fuelling a fire through a combination of melted plastic and increased oxygen intake due to an absent lid, the FRLID remains intact, preventing fire from spreading, and even dampening it out by starving it of oxygen.”
