The Design in Mental Health Network (DIMHN) brings together people who use and work in mental health services, with those who commission and design them, so that environments become more responsive to their end-users’ needs.
The DIMHN said: “We encourage stakeholders to work together towards higher quality services which promote healing and wellbeing, greater efficiency, and cost effectiveness. Alongside addressing the broader questions in mental health design today, we encourage and take inspiration from exemplar projects where people are championing collaborative ways of working. DIMHN is a social enterprise, and works with universities, contractors, healthcare providers, user groups and individuals.”
At Healthcare Estates 2015, the Mental Health, Fire & Security Theatre on the exhibition floor, run by DIMHN and the National Association of Healthcare Fire Officers (NAHFO). will feature ‘products designed to create therapeutic environments while improving safety in patient settings’. NAHFO and the Design in Mental Health Network are promoting the area to their respective members.
A series of mental-health orientated presentations in the theatre on Day One will see speakers including Dr Evangelia Chrysikou of SynThesis Architects; the BRE’s Chris Hall; Joe Forster of DIMHN; Denise Parker of Liverpool John Moores University and Intelligent Lighting Living Labs, Jo Kember of Gilling Dod, and Wendy de Silva of IBI Group, present.
Copies of the DIMHN quarterly magazine, The Network, will also be available.
