Vernacare, which says it ‘pioneered’ the single-use system ‘now used in 94 per cent of UK hospitals and across the globe’ over 50 years ago, designs and manufactures single-use bedpans, urinals, and washbowls from renewable natural fibre, disposed of in its Vortex disposal machines.
It latest Vortex+ pulp macerator, ‘with touchless technology’, is activated via a foot sensor to open and close, eliminating the need for hand movement or contact – and in turn reducing cross-infection risk when disposing of fibre-moulded products containing human waste. Vernacare said: “The Vortex+ retains the original closed-drum system, and with its sealed, water-filled hopper and unique twin-blade design, ensures waste products are broken down into a watery fine slurry. Using a cold water process, the Vortex+ is highly energy-efficient, while its powerful 1 kW three-phase motor enables a rapid cycle time of just two minutes for up to four single-use products.”
Vernacare says it is the world’s only company to manufacture ‘a complete single-use human waste disposal system’.
