A standard integral blind system with the ability to tilt the slats from open to close, and to lift or raise the internal blinds for maximum exposure, has been selected for the new £10 m Sudbury Community Health Centre, one of Suffolk’s biggest such facilities.
Over 50 of BetweenGlassBlinds’ Tilt & Lift blind panels feature. The units have a versatile design, where the blinds sit inside a hermetically sealed, doubleglazed, argon-filled unit, protecting them against damage, dirt, and grime, and meaning they never need cleaning, and are ‘completely maintenance-free’.
The BGB units, specified by Mayfayre Aluminium, allow full control of privacy, plus the ability to reduce glare and sunlight, ‘keeping a room at a more moderate temperature’.
A conventional blind system was deemed unsuitable due to the fact that the blinds ‘gather dust and dirt, and regularly need cleaning’; ‘flap around and make a noise even in a slight breeze if the window is left open’; ‘are easily damaged’, and ‘can be a fire or safety hazard’.
Among the new health centre’s facilities will be a GPs’ surgery with 12 consulting rooms, an X-ray room, a dental treatment suite, a mobile assessment unit offering MRI scanning, a pharmacy, a podiatry unit, audiology services, midwifery, and mental health services.
