Cable manufacturer’s multi-million pound investment

Cable management manufacturer, Marshall-Tufflex, has announced a multi-million pound investment programme in tooling, plant, automation, and customer services, at its production facilities and headquarters in Hastings, East Sussex.

It says the project will deliver improvements in its ‘already high levels of customer service and product quality’, reinforcing its ‘commitment to high production values and ongoing product innovation’.

Paul Hetherington, CEO, said: “Marshall-Tufflex is the UK’s leading manufacturer and supplier of cable management systems, a position achieved through continual investment in the business and focus on great products and great customer service. This latest investment cements our market-leading position and, perhaps more importantly, ensures that our customers have access to the best, most appropriate products at the right time.”

The company has taken delivery of a 3D printer, now an integral and important part of its product development process, and three premium quality injection moulding machines, to improve production flexibility and cut cycle times. It said: “These machines, together with planned investment in production automation, support our commitment to manufacturing high quality products while maintaining energy-efficient methods at every step of the process.”

Marshall-Tufflex has recently been recognised by the BSI as a firm of Assessed Capability to BS EN ISO 50001:2011 and BS EN ISO 14001:2004. The company is also ‘gearing up’ for the introduction of BIM across government projects during 2016, and investing in both IT infrastructure to improve its ordering/delivery process, and a new telephone system. The latter will introduce call logging and monitoring, improve response times, and allow for improved staff training. This is in addition to improvements in its Same Day Collection service for electrical distributors, which has been extended, with longer opening hours. Account-holding electrical distributors can now collect cable management orders just two hours after placement from Marshall-Tufflex depots in London and Manchester and next day from its depot in Hastings, a service claimed to be ‘unrivalled in the industry’.

“This investment will be felt throughout our business; product innovation, quality, and finish remain our top priority, and new tooling will allow us to continue to meet and exceed our own high standards,” said Mr Hetherington. “As market-leader it is essential that we constantly pioneer new products and improve existing ones.”
