WYG appointed for Darlington project

The Tees Valley office of White Young Green (WYG), consultants to the built, natural and social environment, has been appointed to provide mechanical and electrical design engineering services on a £9m healthcare project at Middleton St George Hospital in Darlington, County Durham.

Working for Affinity Healthcare, operators of the Middleton St George Hospital site, the project, which is due for completion mid 2007, will comprise three 28-bed secure units as well as the redevelopment of Park Hall to provide communal facilities. The project strengthens WYG’s long working relationship with Gelder and Kitchen, project architects on the scheme.

Phil Armitage, associate director of WYG, is overseeing the project. “The design of this project was quite unique as we had to ensure that the accommodation was fitted out to a high security specification and that all patient rooms were provided with individually controlled air conditioning. Patient safety and security are at the forefront of our minds at all times,” he explained.
