Dumbledore tops out

The new Dumbledore Primary Care Centre in Handcross, West Sussex, under construction by specialist developer Cathedral Healthcare, has reached a major milestone en route to its scheduled completion in early 2007 with a topping-out ceremony held on the site.

West Sussex Primary Care Trust’s managing director, Sonja Bescoby, acted as guest of honour at the ceremony, attended by clinicians, health practitioners, local dignitaries, community leaders and other interested parties from the area. She joined Dumbledore’s head GP, Dr Rob Morris and Cathedral Healthcare director, Victor Newman in cutting a special cake that depicted the new centre to mark the occasion of the building reaching its full height and officially being ‘topped-out’.

Located on a new site to the north of Handcross village on the site of the old A23, the new Dumbledore Primary Care Centre will be a major improvement on the current GP practice premises. The 1,045m2 premises have been designed to meet the specific requirements of the doctors and PCT to serve the populations of Handcross, Balcombe and neighbouring villages. There will also be an NHS dental practice on-site.

The Dumbledore Primary Care Centre will provide ample off-street parking for clinicians and patients. It will also be fully DDA compliant and offer six consulting rooms, a minor operations suite, an ambulance bay, an in-house dispensing pharmacy, and dedicated facilities for medical training. The project is scheduled for completion in March 2007.
