Panvelle Stretch wins award for Panaz

Panvelle Stretch anti-bacterial and flame retardant upholstery fabric from Panaz has won a Product Approval Award from the British Contract Furnishing Association (BCFA).

One of nine products singled out for endorsement by the BCFA in its 2006 Product Approval Awards, Panvelle Stretch was recognised as having met the scheme’s entry criteria of innovation, uniqueness, commercial reality, sustainability and compliance with British standards. The formal presentation of the award was made by BCFA board member Margaret Miller to Panaz head of hhealthcare sales, Andy Copas at the industry lunch in November.

The result of extensive research by the specialist Panaz Intelligent Textiles Division, Panvelle Stretch is waterproof, yet breathable and warm to the touch, and offers full multistretch capabilities. Pressure mapping tests show it is ideal for use with memory foam in upholstered furniture in hospitals, nursing homes and other caring environments, thereby aiding pressure relief and helping to prevent pressure sores and cross-infection.

Flame retardant to BS5852 Part 2, in line with current fire safety specifications, Panvelle Stretch incorporates active antifungal and antimicrobial agents, and hence will not support the growth of bacteria such as E. coli and MRSA. Panvelle Stretch is also easy-care, and can be cleaned with a bleach solution.

Panvelle Stretch comes in a range of plains and semi-plains, printed with any design from the current Panaz contract portfolio or to meet client requirements. Principal among the comments of the BCFA judging panel was that “Panvelle offered a range of designs and colours for the healthcare sector which accommodated different situations/ schemes and appealed to different ages of patient groups.”
