Preventing tripping in lifts

TripTrack is being marketed as a new way to prevent people tripping in lifts.

The system uses a laser beam to determine the lift’s exact height at each stop or floor. If this exceeds a preprogrammable acceptance level, the system sends out a maintenance call and, where required, a visual and audible passenger warning.

It will also automatically record the lift’s movements and any level discrepancies, which may help reduce the risk of legal action. European Lift Association research shows that lift stopping accuracy was the most frequent cause of lift user accidents between 2001 and 2005. Sales director Eamonn Reid explains: “A log of each lift’s daily activity can be used in court as vital evidence in insurance and legal claim cases.”

TripTrack is marketed by LiftStore, a provider of lift monitoring, control and safety solutions.
