Brandon Medical has recently equipped operating theatres 1, 4, and 5 at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary with its ‘most advanced theatre technology’, including its Quasar eLite operating light on a duo structure.
The Quasar eLite ‘provides surgeons with intense, high quality lighting, enabling them to maximise accuracy during surgical procedures’. Brandon added: “This reduces eye strain and fatigue to enhance the surgeon’s concentration.”
Huddersfield Royal Infirmary (HRI) opened in 1965, and is the specialist centre for emergency, planned complex, and paediatric surgery, for the people of Huddersfield and Calderdale. The hospital is currently undertaking a comprehensive theatre refurbishment project involving six theatres, which includes installing improved lighting, ‘integrated systems, and interactive controls’.
In addition to featuring the Brandon Quasar eLite lighting, the theatres incorporate the company’s multi-movement, single-sided Atlas pendants. Brandon said: “Centralising services and equipment using our Atlas pendant systems provides a flexible solution for surgical and intensive care units – some of the most complex and demanding areas of a hospital. Future access for servicing is also improved, reducing maintenance downtime over the lifespan of the pendant.” Brandon also supplied surgeons’ control panels, and an ‘information wall’ incorporating two Symposia CoPax viewers and a touchscreen ‘mimic panel membrane’.
