Teal Patents says that with the winter bringing news of hospital ward closures due to outbreaks of norovirus, it is time for a renewed focus on hand hygiene
The company supplies the medical sector with portable handwash units specifically designed to assist with infection outbreaks, or situations when a ward or hospital has a water supply failure. It said: “It is estimated that close to a million people in the UK are affected every year, and past outbreaks show that the virus’s spread can be slowed by ensuring that staff, patients, and visitors, wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water. The quickest way to achieve this is with additional handwash facilities exactly where they are needed, even where no fixed plumbing is present.”
Already proven to be effective at several hospitals where outbreaks have occurred, the Teal handwash units have a screen display to take users through the NHS-recommended seven-stage handwash actions. To keep costs under control, they can also be hired rather than purchased.
