Lantronix unveils new high density device servers

US-based Lantronix Inc has launched its latest device networking solution, the EDS16PR and EDS32PR high density device servers.

IT managers and engineers can quickly and securely connect access and monitor up to 32 serial devices over existing management or production networks, from medical equipment to POS terminals, or a single 1U high/rack mount data centre ready unit. Powered by Lantronix’s award-winning Evolution OS, the new platforms are designed to provide enterprise-grade security and intelligent web services for attached devices, including Extensible Markup Language (XML) configuration support and management and monitoring using Really Simple Syndication (RSS) and e-mail.

“The introduction of the EDS16/32PR gives our customers a high density device networking platform that makes machineto- machine communications and management simple and secure,” said Chris Preston, senior vice president of marketing for Lantronix. “Our awardwinning Evolution OS embedded in the EDS16/32PR, delivers the highest levels of security that our customers demand, especially as they connect more devices to their primary networks. With its security, ease of use and versatility, we expect to generate new growth opportunities in markets such as Retail/POS, Medical, Manufacturing, Security, Telecom, Government and IT/Data Centres.”

The Lantronix EDS16/32PR supports IT standards such as SSH2.0, SSL 3.0 and AES. This provides complete end-to-end security, from ensuring data is received from a responsible source to validating the integrity of the data during transmission. The Evolution Device Server’s security and encryption capabilities protect data but also security against Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, including man-in-the-middle and port mapping. IT administrators can also integrate other encryption schemes directly into their application using the Lantronix encryption library suite.

RSS and Email alerts can be used to track configuration changes, as well as monitor and log connection and device status information, reducing time and resources required to manage and troubleshoot the network. With its familiar “Cisco-like” Command Line Interface, the EDS16/32PR makes command line configuration and control simple. The configurable XML-based architecture and built-in file system on the EDS16/32PR allow users to easily import and export configuration and status records and rapidly develop custom Web pages for their specific application environment.
