Atlas Copco compressors were on show and a key discussion topic when authorised distributor Tipton-based AQ Central co-hosted, with Midland Medical Services, a meeting of IHEEM’s Midlands Branch.
The principal topics of the meeting dealt with proposed changes to the Medical Gas Standard (HTM 2022), and special projects works such as those involving mobile operating theatre plant modules for military use undertaken by AQ Central’s customer Midlands Medical Services (MMS).
On view were Atlas Copco compressors, including a GX4 modified by MMS to comply with control/ alarm and air quality requirements of the Dental Supplement to HTM 2022. The unit was complete with dew point monitoring, pressure control and extra alarm facilities.
Compressed air systems in general were also subject to discussion with special emphasis on dew point monitoring, oil/water separation and quality testing.
Midland Medical Services’ core business is piped medical gas installation and maintenance, with capability to offer a complete package from design through to commissioning and validation services. Its Special Projects Division undertakes commissions where there is no “off the shelf” solution, such as with the Field Operating Theatre project for the military, and the recent design, development and installation of a nitric oxide manifold and associated pipework for an extremely busy ICU that has a number of mobile carts for paediatric use.
