Trusts’ forward-thinking approach recognised

How 21st century technology, sound parking operative training, and a willingness among Trusts to innovate, are combining to improve the hospital parking experience.

It is often said that the quality of the parking experience at a hospital or other healthcare facility makes one of the most lasting impressions on visitors. HEJ editor, Jonathan Baillie, spoke to Phillip Herring, managing director at Indigo, the UK arm of one of Europe’s leading ‘bespoke parking solution’ providers, to discover how, harnessing first-class customer service, the latest technology, and the ability to offer anything from simple car park management to 30-year Design Build Finance Operate (DBFO) packages, the company is looking to extend a UK healthcare parking contract portfolio which already sees it work with 11 NHS Trusts across England, Scotland, and Wales.

Indigo in the UK manages some 165,000 parking spaces on sites ranging from hospitals to retail outlets, alongside managing off-street parking in a number of cities. In healthcare alone it currently manages over 35,000 spaces at UK hospitals, working with 11 NHS Trusts. The business that is Indigo in the UK today was, until a name change in November 2015, VINCI Park UK, and part of one of the world’s largest construction and concession groups. However in 2014 parent group, VINCI Park, saw a change of shareholders, when two new companies – Ardian and Prédica – acquired stakes in the Group’s equity alongside VINCI, which subsequently resulted in the creation of the Indigo business.
