Countdown to Healthcare Estates

The Healthcare Estates Conference and Exhibition is now just five months away. This year’s event will break new ground in providing essential information for both private and public healthcare facilities professionals.

Healthcare Estates is the leading event for the construction, development and day to day running of healthcare facilities in the UK. Attendance has grown massively over the past few years and the event attracts over 1,500 delegates and visitors.

IHEEM conference

This year’s IHEEM conference sees a new format offering a wider choice of conference streams that will educate and stimulate key decision makers from acute and primary healthcare Trusts, and key personnel from private and public organisations. The 2007 conference structure is as follows:

Best Practice: This two day stream will feature the three forms of procurement: PFI, ProCure21 and LIFT. This stream will cover case studies of existing projects in these fields. Leading organisations have been approached by IHEEM to present their studies and it is envisaged that this stream will appeal to all levels from board Trust members to estate and facility managers looking to investigate the best form of construction/procurement methods for their own development needs. It will also appeal to fellow construction company executives on the lessons learned through these projects.

Acute Healthcare: The Government has committed more than £1.5 billion to the building of seven new hospitals. This commitment and investment is the largest so far in the development activity set out by this Government. In the past 10 years, more than £10 billion has been spent on healthcare facilities with another £10 billion budgeted for the next five years. This conference stream will look at all aspects of acute healthcare facilities. If you are looking for the latest policy announcements and guidance or education on a wide spectrum of activities that will develop you and your facility, then this stream will appeal to you.

Primary Healthcare: The Government will spend more than £750 million in the next five years on developing primary care facilities. This year, there will be a dedicated conference stream at Healthcare Estates offering advice and knowledge for this important sector. This stream will be of interest to anyone involved in primary care Trust facilities, mental health Trusts and ambulance Trusts.

Conference Delegate Fees: This year’s delegate fee structure has been announced. Book before 7 September to receive a discount. The fee structure offers IHEEM, AIME members and NHS employees further discounted rates (see table above).

Healthcare Estates exhibition

This year’s Healthcare Estates exhibition will feature some new attractions:

The Sustainability Centre has been created to offer advice and guidance on the key issues in the public healthcare service. Sustainability, energy saving and achieving carbon neutral status are all key objectives within the NHS and this stand will feature leading organisations such as RIBA, Carbon Trust and BRE. These organisations will offer expertise advice in their specific fields. The Sustainability Centre will be of interest to all delegates and visitors and will enable them to discuss individual issues affecting the facilities they are involved in. Healthcare Showcase: Now in its third year, the popular Healthcare Showcase programme will once again run during Healthcare Estates. These exhibitor presentations highlight the latest products, services and initiatives and are ideal times to discuss specific issues, problems and queries with suppliers and fellow professionals.

The Healthcare Estates exhibition attracts more than 140 exhibiting companies and is the largest exhibition in the UK to showcase the latest products and services to aid the development of healthcare facilities.

Why attend?

The main reason for attending Healthcare Estates is that the event will provide the knowledge and tools to run healthcare facilities more effectively. With involvement from so many different key organisations and leading supply companies, visitors are assured of an event that will excite, stimulate and educate.
