A handheld thermometer which scans barcodes to record the identity of individual taps, showers, and sinks, is ‘transforming Legionella water management in hospitals’, claims TME Thermometers, which will show the device at Healthcare Esates 2017.
The MM7000 barcode scanning thermometer has an integral barcode scanner which records the time, temperature, and date of every spot check, and the identity and location of multiple taps, pipes, and sentinel points.
TME Thermometers said: “Barcode systems are not new to healthcare estates personnel: a number of Trusts have already introduced barcodes for patient and asset management. The timesaving benefits and enhanced integrity of paperless records are an obvious attraction, especially when a fast, entirely paperless water temperature regime is required. However, the combination of barcodes with temperature recording in a single device is still unique to the marketplace.”
Key benefits of the MM7000 cited include:
- Compatible with fast-response, waterproof sensors for running water and pipes.
- Works with thermocouple wall ports ‘for hard-to-reach’ outlets like overhead tanks.
- Stores up to 1,000 readings at a time, with no wireless connection required.
- Offers a Bluetooth or USB connection for downloading data.
- ncludes open source software for use with common office database systems.
