The new IBEX Transeat from ParAid is a patient transport chair that uses a variable friction traction belt which assists with stairway ascent and descent, reducing the risk of back injury to operators.
The IBEX Transeat also improves the handling of seated patients into and out of ambulances. It is widely used by the ambulance services, and reduces the risks of musculoskeletal injury, long associated with the transport of seated patients by ambulance. A specially rated ambulance floor-mounting bracket secures the seat in place.
With approximately 15 minutes of training, a paramedic should achieve the necessary competency to operate the IBEX Transeat safely and within their capabilities without fear of causing injury to themselves or the patient. The IBEX Transeat is in use by NHS Trusts, making a significant contribution to improved working conditions and reducing the risks of muscle strain, hernia and back pain.
In buildings, the IBEX Transeat can accommodate staircases designed with over a 45° angle of descent, quarter landings, carpeted stairs and obstacles such as doorframes and storm guards.
The device will ascend a stair with the application of minimal force by two operators. A wall bracket fixing for the Transeat ensures it is always ready for use.
