A ‘complete Altro floors and walls solution’ has given a relaxing, stylish, and ‘home-from-home’ feel to a new birthing centre at Hull Women and Children’s Hospital.
The midwife-led Fatima Allam Birth Centre incorporates three individually designed birthing rooms. The design vision for was ‘for an entirely nonclinical-looking environment – relaxing, calm, very contemporary in design, and a tranquil haven’. Andrew Ledger, contracts manager for FM provider, Apleona, said: “We specified Altro floors and walls from the start because we are using its products elsewhere in the hospital with much success. Meeting all our clinical hygiene and infection control needs, they offer a superb range of colours and textures.”
Altro products used include Altro Whiterock Digiclad, created by reproducing a photographic image or vector art onto Altro Whiterock wall sheet, Altro Whiterock Satin for the shower rooms, Altro Wood warm wood-effect flooring for the three bedrooms and corridors¸ black Altro Walkway 20 safety flooring around the edge of all the floors in bedrooms and corridors, and Altro Pisces safety flooring for shower rooms and around the birthing pool.
