Building services design consultancy and IHEEM Company Affiliate, Troup Bywaters + Anders (TB+A), was commended for its commitment to training and skills excellence by The Princess Royal at a recent ceremony at London’s St James’s Palace.
The national business, which in October agreed to sponsor a new IHEEM Apprentice of the Year Award (HEJ – November 2017), was one of 40 organisations honoured with a Princess Royal Training Award – delivered by the City & Guilds Group – for creating lasting impact by successfully linking its skills development needs to business performance. All recipients had demonstrated that training has a significant impact on productivity and business success. The award-winners were drawn from a broad range of areas.
TB+A received royal recognition and approval for responding to an industry skills shortage by developing its own Apprenticeship programme. It says it has successfully led the level 3 and level 6 Trailblazers with ambitions to develop a level 7 qualification, and is also aiming for 30 per cent of its engineers to be female by 2020.
On receiving the award (see photo), Partner, Neil Weller, said: “It is a real honour to receive this award, which recognises the importance we place on developing all of our people. It further promotes the credibility of professional apprenticeship schemes as an equal to the university pathway.”
