Offsite Solutions has been awarded the contract to supply bathroom pods for the new £69 million East Lothian Community Hospital.
Morrison Construction, part of Galliford Try, is principal contractor for the purpose-built community hospital in Haddington, appointed by Hub South East Scotland on behalf of NHS Lothian.
Offsite Solutions will provide 134 factory-built bathroom pods for the project, supplied without floors to allow for continuous level flooring throughout the wards, and avoid the need for thresholds to make the bathrooms fully accessible. Designed to meet HTM requirements, each 2.6 m x 2.2 m pod will easily accommodate a patient and a carer, with a wider pre-prepared aperture for two door leaves for easy access. The washbasins, toilets, and showers, will be pre-installed at Offsite Solutions’ Somerset factory, with the easy-to-clean, hygienic walls finished in white.
The scheme has a complex phased construction to allow continuation of clinical services in the existing hospital buildings.
The bathroom pods will be installed in batches throughout 2018.
