Improving the information available to nurses

Global nurse call and clinical workflow solutions manufacturer, Austco Communication Systems, describes its flagship solution, Tacera, as ‘an integrated IP-based critical communication system that delivers safety solutions for patients’.

The company said: “By linking nurses and patients in real-time, Tacera improves access and enhances the quality of information available to nurses, enabling them to provide immediate assistance, and ensuring measurable improvements to quality of care.”

Pulse Mobile – the newest component of Austco’s Tacera Pulse software suite of ‘next generation’ clinical business intelligence solutions – is a smartphone application designed for iOS and Android that transmits nurse call and third-party system alarms directly to healthcare professionals’ personal devices. Notifications are routed to assigned caregivers’ smartphones, allowing them to rapidly determine which alarms require immediate attention. Nurse call alarms are automatically prioritised.

Austco added: “Pulse Mobile provides touch to call functionality on audio-enabled systems, enabling caregivers to initiate a voice call from their smartphone directly to the call’s origin.

“Caregivers cannot always answer every call assigned to them. Pulse Mobile allows them to ‘Accept’, ‘Reject’ or ‘Escalate’ alarms with a simple touch action, and is downloadable in the Apple and Google Play stores. Connection to a Wi-Fi network allows the mobile ‘app’ to communicate with the Austco Integration Server software, automatically downloading the required configuration settings.”
