Altro chosen for teenage centre

Flooring and wall cladding from Altro has been installed in rooms at The Junction, a young people’s mental health assessment and treatment centre near Lancaster.

Due to the teenagers’ mental illnesses and their vulnerable nature, it was important that both the flooring and wall cladding at the home was of the highest safety specification and easy to clean.

As part of the refit the AltroSmooth Ethos golden oak flooring was used in the reception area, corridors, offices, lounge, games room, bedrooms and therapy rooms. In some areas this was complemented with Altro’s innovative wood-look safety flooring Altro Timbersafe Oak. Altro Maxis in a blue shade was also widely used in areas including staff and visitor toilets, store rooms, bathrooms and en-suites.

The Junction project manager Roz Smithson said: “We set a complex brief for Altro as it was extremely important that on a practical level both the flooring and walls in wet areas stood up to the test. I am delighted to say that not only has Altro provided practical solutions but also all the products are of the highest standard and pleasing to the eye.

“Following feedback from the teenagers, we were looking for products which would give a homely but contemporary feel and this is what has been achieved. Tiled areas are just not practical for The Junction due to the vulnerable nature of the children and I was really pleased with the vast range of alternative floors and walls which Altro could offer. The end product is fantastic and both staff and the children are delighted.”
