High specification, engineering quality and competitive price are key factors influencing the decision made by Halifax General, Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and Coventry New Hospitals to invest time and money in air cooled single screw chillers operating with the environment friendly refrigerant R134a. Since its introduction in 2001, over 1,000 screw chillers with R134a refrigerant have been manufactured, installed and commissioned by McQuay International.
The higher reliability of the low pressure refrigerant, which has been proven through many laboratory tests and field applications, is enhanced with the adoption of the exclusive McQuay single screw compressor, specifically designed for this ecological refrigerant. Another element characterising the high reliability of this new compressor is the simultaneous suction and compression phases on both sides of the main rotor.
