STRIDE, the development joint venture between Health Innovation Partners (HIP) – a partnership between Community Solutions Partnership, the healthcare development subsidiary of Morgan Sindall, and Arcadis – and University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB), have received outline planning permission to develop a healthcare village, Outwoods, on surplus land adjacent to the Queen’s Hospital in Burton-on-Trent.
Outwoods is set to provide new accommodation for a local GP practice and supporting community services, a 50-bed step down facility, a 40-bed care home, a community hub, an 80-place extra care residency, and accommodation for 88 doctors and nurses, plus a 100-place nursery. Works are due to commence on site in early 2020.
Duncan Bedford, managing director for Burton at UHDB, said: “The Trust had the foresight to engage Health Innovation Partners in a joint venture to provide commercial expertise to developing our hospital site, as well as to support its effective and efficient delivery. The Outwoods Healthcare Village will enhance the way health and social care work together to provide an integrated approach for the benefit of the people we are responsible for.”
