MTX to build state-of-the-art Derriford Heart Clinic

Following its successful delivery last November of a fast-track modular Outpatients’ Department to Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital, MTX has won the contract to provide a modular Heart Clinic to the same site.

University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHP) has formed a joint venture with Regent’s Park Healthcare, a specialist cardiology services company, to develop and operate a state-of-the-art heart centre, to be called the Peninsula Heart Clinic. The new cardiac clinic will provide UHP with additional capacity to reduce NHS waiting lists, and respond to the burgeoning demand for both cardiac procedures and outpatient diagnostics across Plymouth and the wider South-West.

MTX has begun works on site to provide a modular standalone building situated at the rear of the hospital with easy access to the car park. The new single-storey clinic will be built on pad foundations, and will comprise a cardiac catheterisation laboratory, a five-bed bay recovery area, a (five-seated) recovery lounge, three single en suite rooms, an outpatient centre with waiting area and treatment rooms, staff changing facilities, a staff restroom, and offices.

Works are due for completion late this year.
