A leading lift and escalator expert, Eur Ing Dave Cooper, managing director of UK-based independent lift, escalator, and vertical transport consultant, LECS (UK), will give a free presentation focusing on ‘the lift and escalator for 2019’ in Central London on 4 April, starting at 12.30pm.
As ‘an industry expert’ and co-author of several leading industry ‘bibles’, including The Elevator & Escalator Micropedia and Elevator & Escalator Accident Reconstruction & Litigation, he will discuss the details and implications of the latest changes and documentary requirements for those owning and managing a lift, or a portfolio of lifts, throughout its / their lifecycle. He said: “The aim of these sessions is to ensure that those with a duty of care are kept up to date with changes in standards, regulations, and general requirements. They provide an easy and sociable way to improve knowledge in this ever-changing field. It’s difficult, but important, to keep up to date with changes in this area, and the aim of these so these brief presentation is to provide all the latest developments in a very digestible format.”
Dave Cooper is ‘a popular invited speaker’, and has appeared on BBC TV’s Emergency Measures with respect to accidents involving lifts. He has presented at a number of industry seminars worldwide, including 2018 CIBSE UON (Hong Kong), 2018 Lift Symposium (Northampton), 2018 CIBSE Lifts Group (London), and given many other as presentations within the UK and abroad.
Having worked in the lift and escalator industry since 1980, he is a well-known author and speaker, and holds a Master of Philosophy following a five-year research project into accidents on escalators, a Master of Science in Lift Engineering, a Bachelor of Science honours degree, a Higher National Certificate, and a Continuing Education Certificate in lift and escalator engineering.
